Randy Pausch; Last Lecture

I feel Randy Pausch was able to achieve his childhood dreams because of his perspective and approach towards setback or “brick walls”. From Randy Pausch life’s experience I have been able to identify how his perspective towards setback or in his own terms “brick wall” help him achieve his childhood dreams. From the experience he shared, there are evidences of some setbacks, for example the “go-to-hell” feedback letter he received from Disney Imagineering department after boldly applying for a job with his PHD from Carnegie Mellon University. I am sure this must have been very frustrating for him even with his PHD degree, but he didn’t give up or turn back because of the existing brick wall at that moment of his life. Rather those temporary obstacles boosted his energy and desire towards achieving his childhood dreams. Just like he said that “those brick walls are there to give us chance to show how badly we want something” this was the case for young Randy Pausch.

Yes, I feel dreaming is extremely important if we want to achieve more in life, this is because we have to visualize what we want to achieve to be able to achieve it, knowing that whatever the mind can comprehend can be achieved through hard work and consistency. Additionally, I believe this was the case with young Randy Pausch because for him to have achieve most of his Life’s goals like he said, he must have dreamt of it severally, maybe numberless times.

At this point of my life, I can’t really point out any specific childhood dream but I recognize that as a child I wanted to be really successful and be able to reach out to others. I feel this dream is achievable through consistent, persistent hard work coupled with an abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
